Manchester United fans have singled out Patrick Dorgu for criticism following their 1-0 loss to 10-man Everton in the Premier League on Monday, November 24. The 21-year-old had an evening to forget as the Toffees ended United’s four-match winning streak at Old Trafford.
Manchester United looked stronger from the outset, but a bizarre moment unfolded in the early exchanges when Idrissa Gueye was sent off in the 13th minute for hitting his teammate, Michael Keane.
Surprisingly, Everton appeared to look like the better team after being down 10 men and took an unlikely lead just before the half-hour mark. Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall received the ball from James Garner and skipped away from Bruno Fernandes and Leny Yoro before curling a beauty into the far corner.
Manchester United dominated the game afterwards but couldn’t breach Everton’s resolute backline, with goalkeeper Jordan Pickford also making a couple of saves. Dorgu, who started the game, missed an opportunity to equalize for the Red Devils in the 33rd minute. Apart from that, throughout the 58 minutes he spent on the pitch, he made no accurate crosses from three attempts, gave only the one pass into the final third, won none of his attemped four ariel duels, and made no blocks or interceptions.
After the match, furious fans took to X to slam the Danish left-back for his performance, with one writing:
“Not even hating, but what exactly does Patrick Dorgu offer? Defensively unreliable, and his attacking output is quite poor.”
Another tweeted:
“Dorgu has got terrible football IQ.”
“Legs like spaghetti too. Can’t stay off the ground,” another added.
A fourth wrote:
“Playing against 10 men with Dorgu means we are playing 10 against 10.. useless player!!”
“Dorgu loses all his brain cells as soon as he touches the ball,” another remarked.
“Dorgu is the worse left back in football history,” a fan claimed.

“The quality and decision making wasn’t there” – Ruben Amorim on Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Everton
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim didn’t hide his frustration after his team lost to an Everton side that played the vast majority of the game with 10 men. Amorim criticized the manner in which they started the match, saying they didn’t understand how to play against ten men.
He told Sky Sports:
"I'm feeling really frustrated, like any other person that supports Manchester United. We should be frustrated with the way we started the game and the way we didn't understand how we should play against 10 men. They deserved to win. We had a lot of chances in the second half through crosses and second balls, but the quality and decision-making wasn't there. Everton were the better team.
"After the sending off, I was expecting us to have long periods of possession and to push the opponent. We didn't control the transitions, even with 10 men. We were giving them big spaces to win second balls, so the understanding of every situation in the game was not there. The quality around the box is another big thing, but more importantly it was the intensity we showed. We cannot win games in this way."
The defeat marked the first time Manchester United had lost a Premier League match at Old Trafford after seeing the opposition pick up a red card, winning 36 and drawing 10 of the previous 46.
