Ferrari F1 driver Lewis Hamilton has predicted a loss for Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham in the Premier League this week. The Englishman was making his predictions for the game week alongside his F1 teammate, Charles Leclerc.
In a video released on the Premier League's social media accounts, the two F1 drivers made predictions for all 10 league matches this week. Both backed Arsenal to beat Aston Villa in the early kick-off, with Hamilton going for a stunning 5-0 win for the Gunners, while the driver from Monaco went with a 3-1 scoreline.
Both drivers quickly predicted a Chelsea win over AFC Bournemouth and similar outcomes for Fulham, Newcastle United, and Manchester United in their respective games. The other five games saw them have contrasting predictions, with Hamilton backing Sunderland over Manchester City and saying:
"I think it will be a close game (Manchester City vs Sunderland). I think, Sunderland have been doing a great job, so it could go either way. I'm going to go for Sunderland."
Hamilton also backed Leeds United over Liverpool, with Leclerc going the other way. The seven-time World Champions also predicted a loss for Tottenham in their London derby against Brentford.
The Englishman added that he does not want West Ham United to win their game against Brighton & Hove Albion, before cheekily taking a dig at Leclerc, joking that his were predictions while the Monaco driver was making guesses.
Liverpool are out of the Premier League title race, said Jamie Redknapp
Jamie Redknapp made a bold prediction in November, claiming that Liverpool were out of the Premier League title race. He said that they had dropped too many points and were unlikely to catch leaders Arsenal, and told Sky Sports (via Metro):
"Yeah look we can forget Liverpool. They have had a few mentions tonight, but forget L'pool. They cannot win the Premier League this year. They’re too far gone, confidence is too low, that’ll be a miracle if they did it. So I think there’s probably three runners, but one outstanding one. Arsenal are by far the best team. They’ve got the best squad, best organised, and they’ve been the best over the last four or five years."
Liverpool are sitting ninth in the Premier League table, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal. The Reds are level on points with Manchester United and Brighton & Hove Albion, while sitting two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
