Dimitar Berbatov has dismissed claims of the Premier League title being over already, with Arsenal leading the race. He said that there are multiple teams that can surprise the Gunners, who will be tested during this period.

Mikel Arteta's side finished second in the last three seasons in the Premier League. However, they sit atop the standings after 12 games this campaign, six points above second-placed Chelsea. Manchester City are one point further behind in third, while Liverpool are 11 points behind in 12th.

Arsenal are being touted as clear favorites after their terrific performances this season. However, Dimitar Berbatov believes the race is far from over, as he told ESPNFC:

"No, no. Everyone here knows the Premier League is not a sprint, it’s a marathon. Now comes the festive fixtures, the games where you’ll be really tested. If you get out of this period with good results and are still in a good position – top with a good points advantage – then you are halfway there."

"But let’s not jump to conclusions yet. Of course Liverpool are low in the table and Man City are dropping points, but there are other teams like Chelsea who can surprise people. Six points is a good cushion but in the Premier League it’s nothing and can go very quickly."

Notably, the last time Arsenal finished second three seasons in a row, they won the Premier League title in the following campaign (2001-02).

John Terry opens up on upcoming clash between Arsenal and Chelsea

The two London rivals are set to face off at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, November 30, in the Premier League. Aside from being a big derby, it is also a huge clash with respect to the title race, as Arsenal are first and Chelsea are second.

Ahead of the game, Blues legend John Terry said on TikTok (h/t Metro):

"A big game at the weekend now as Arsenal come to the Bridge where it’s going to be a very big game. I’m not saying it’s going to be a title decider but I think it’s going to be one of the two teams [who win the league].
"For me, Liverpool are 100 per cent out of the title race. Liverpool look they’re really struggling at the moment."

Before that match, the Gunners will host Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, November 26. Chelsea, meanwhile, hammered Barcelona 3-0 at Stamford Bridge in their Champions League game on Tuesday.
