Real Madrid fans have hit out at defender Fran Garcia for his showing in the game against CD Talavera. Los Blancos edged their lower division opposition 3-2 on the night to qualify for the Round of 16 of this season's Copa Del Rey.
Left-back Garcia was named in the starting XI for the game against the minnows by manager Xabi Alonso. He had been unavailable for their LaLiga meeting with Alaves last weekend due to a suspension, having been sent off against Celta Vigo in the league.
Not willing to leave anything to chance, Alonso opted to name a strong XI for the game against the third division side away from home. He left teenage defender Victor Valdepenas on the bench and had Garcia start at left-back, while Alvaro Carreras filled in at centre-back.
Real Madrid fans were far from impressed with the showing from Garcia, and they made this known through their posts on X. A fan accused the left-back of being an amateur player not fit enough for the 4th division, even.
Another fan labelled him as the worst footballer they have ever watched play.
A fan advocated for the Spaniard to be sold as he has proven to be 'insufferable'.
Another fan stated that they never wish to see the left-back don the shirt of the Spanish giants anymore.
A fan asked that the left-back leaves the club after another disappointing showing.
Fran Garcia played for the entirety of the game as his side won 3-2 to progress from the tie and qualify for the Round 16 in the competition. The Spaniard completed 92% of his passes, created two chances, and delivered two clearances. He also won one of five duels and made eight ball recoveries in the game (via FotMob).
Real Madrid overcome Talavera in Copa Del Rey clash
Real Madrid edged past third division CD Talavera in their Copa Del Rey Round of 32 meeting at the Eatadio El Prado. The Spanish giants survived a late onslaught from their plucky opposition to progress from the cup tie with a 3-2 scoreline.
Los Blancos took the lead in the 41st minute after Kylian Mbappe opened the scoring from the penalty spot. Their lead was doubled mere minutes later when Manuel Farrando put the ball onto his own net just before the end of the first half.
Talavera pulled one back through Nahuel Arroyo in the 80th minute, giving them a glimmer of hope. Real Madrid had France captain Mbappe double his tally for the game with a strike from outside the box in the 88th minute to put his side 3-1 up. Talavera were not to be so easily beaten and found the net through Gonzalo Di Renzo, making it 3-2 on the night.
