Cristiano Ronaldo's partner, Georgina Rodriguez, has opened up on her engagement to the Portuguese superstar. She claimed that the proposal came as a surprise, and she was left in awe after he proposed with a stunning diamond ring.

The couple publicly announced their engagement back in August after Georgina showed off the large diamond ring, reportedly worth about $3 million, on Instagram. In a recent interview with ELLE Spain, Georgina shared how she felt after the 40-year-old finally popped the question after about 10 years of being together.

She said (as quoted by GOAL):

"It's gorgeous. It's the least he could offer me after 10 years of waiting (laughs). The truth is, when he proposed, it was the last thing on my mind. It took me a long time to process the enormous stone he gave me. I was so shocked that I left it in my room and didn't open it in the sunlight until the next day (laughs)."

The 31-year-old model also spoke about her connection with Ronaldo, saying:

"I felt a connection that went far beyond the physical. I can't say I foresaw my destiny, or that I knew ten years later we'd have five children, but I did experience an inexplicable feeling.
"It was as if our souls spoke to each other before our eyes even met. Something inside me recognised something inside him, and from that very moment I knew that this connection was completely different and unique," she added.

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina reportedly met in 2016 in a Gucci shop where the latter worked as a sales assistant. The Portuguese star, meanwhile, was on the books of Real Madrid at the time.

When will Cristiano Ronaldo get married?

Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez are yet to open the lid on their wedding plans. However, the Al-Nassr forward hinted in an interview with Piers Morgan that they could officially tie the knot in 2026 after the FIFA World Cup.

When asked about his wedding, Ronaldo replied (via GOAL):

"Not yet. We plan to do it after the World Cup with the trophy! But she is not the person that likes big parties. She doesn't like it. She likes private things. So I will respect these decisions. One thing that I love, she didn't care about the ring. She asked me if I was honest and I said, 'I want you and I want to marry you.' I didn't cry but I had tears in my eyes."

Cristiano Ronaldo is gearing up to lead Portugal to next summer's FIFA World Cup, which he has confirmed will be his last.
