Manchester City fans slammed star forward Savinho for his sub-par performance in a 2-0 loss to Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Champions League (November 25).

Goals from Spanish midfielder Alejandro Grimaldo (23') and Czech forward Patrik Schick (54') stunned the Cityzens at the Etihad. Although it was a mediocre showing overall from Pep Guardiola's side, Savinho, in particular, had a night to forget.

Despite playing the full 90 minutes, the Brazilian forward failed to create a single chance. He completed just four of his nine dribbles (44%) and one of his six crosses (17%) and his only shot of the game was off target (stats via Fotmob).

After the full-time whistle, Manchester City fans laid into Savinho on social media. @a_yushsinha13 wrote:

"That's a low for us guys. Keep Savinho with the u23's for 2-3 weeks, guy really needs to work on a lot of things. We move on, but this one stings."

"Savinho cracks me up man. He’s genuinely bad with passion," @MCIKevn wrote.

Savinho has struggled for form thus far in the 2025-26 campaign, with just one goal and two assists in 15 appearances across all competitions (eight starts).

"We weren't good enough" - Manchester City star John Stones makes claim after 2-0 loss vs Bayer Leverkusen

Manchester City defender John Stones claimed that his side were simply not 'good enough' after suffering a 2-0 loss at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, the Englishman said:

"I think its going to have to be one that we have to look back at. I think we weren't good enough as a collective tonight. Created a lot of chances, it could have been 4 or 5-2, but its difficult for me to summarize."
"All in all, we didn't have that edge to us, the clinical and aggressive edge. We lacked in quite a few things, which is very uncharacteristic for us as a team and as players and we're all disappointed... There were a lot of good things but it is a night that we need to reflect on massively," Stones added.
