According to Fox Sports, De Paul hit out at Moralez, saying that they kicked him out of Racing Club while he could join the Argentine club any time he wanted and also buy the whole club if needed. The former Atletico Madrid star said:

"Shut up because they kicked you out of Racing. I go to Racing when I want and, if I want, I buy it from the owners."

Moralez was furious with the comment and hit back with abuse, adding that the midfielder had joined Inter Miami instead because he wanted to go on vacation. He said:

"You are a s**mbag who did not go to win the Libertadores and at 30 years old you preferred to come on vacation to Miami."

When Lionel Messi tried to jump in and stop the two players, Moralez was quick to hit out at the Inter Miami captain, asking if who was protecting whom and said:

"Excuse me, I thought he (De Paul) was your bottle and not you (Messi) his bottle."

Lionel Messi's Inter Miami went on to win the Eastern Conference Final 5-1, qualifying for the MLS Cup final, where they face Vancouver Whitecaps.

"It's not about Lionel Messi against Thomas Müller, it's Miami against the Whitecaps. Maybe they rely a little bit more on him than we do on me, because we are such a good group, you know what I mean?"
"The nice thing about it is not only playing against the greatest player who played our game and is still playing our game, it's more that, I think, when you have a pairing like this, more people are watching,. If more people are watching, the value also for you as a player, as an individual, also for your team and also for your franchise, is way bigger."

Thomas Muller has lost just three times in his 10 meetings with Messi for club and country.
