Speaking to the media after the match, Tarkowski said that he had not seen the incident that led to the red card. He added that Gueye spoke to the players in the dressing room and apologised for his reaction. The Englishman said (via GiveMeSport):

"I didn't see it, I was walking away to be honest. Gana was just speaking, he spoke after the game and apologised. He's a very experienced player, and very competitive, he's accepted that he's made a mistake tonight. Michael Keane has accepted the apology. We'll move on from it quickly."

Everton manager David Moyes also revealed that Gueye had apologised for the red card, adding that he likes to see his players fight. He believes that it is a part of the game and said:

"I quite like my players fighting each other and getting annoyed with each other because it was a bad ball or someone didn't do the right action. I think that's part of it. If you want a winning team and you want that resilience and toughness which got us the result, then I think you have to have players that are going to act that way."

"I'm disappointed with the sending off but we've all been footballers and the ones that have will tell you that quite often you'll get angry with your teammates. [Idrissa Gueye's] apologised in the dressing room for the sending off. He's praised the players incredibly for their performance tonight and thanked them for it, and as I said, he's apologised for what happened."

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall scored the only goal of the game, helping Everton win against Manchester United, despite playing over 80 minutes with 10 men.

Referee should have sorted things out between Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane, says David Moyes

Everton manager David Moyes has said that the referee should have taken time to talk things out between Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane. He believes that the red card was not the only solution, and the official should have spoken to the players. He said:

"I thought the referee could have taken a bit longer to think about it. He could have just gone over [to Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane]nand sorted it and have a think about it."
