Former Liverpool striker Michael Owen believes Arsenal are not better than the Reds and Manchester City on ability. However, he has backed them to win the Premier League title this season, as he doesn't see them dropping many points.

Speaking on the Premier League Productions, Owen claimed that Mikel Arteta's side's ceiling was lower than that of defending champions Liverpool and Manchester City. He believes that the Gunner would be the third-best side if all the teams played to their potential in every game and said (via Metro):

"Possibly… they are a fair few points ahead. You ask anybody and they’ll probably say Arsénal are the favourites at the minute so it’s going to take a good effort to beat them. I can’t see them dropping too many points because they’re very efficient.

"Leading the race brings it’s own pressure but the way they play, they’re so efficient. If Arsénal, Man City and L'pool all play at their very, very best, I think Arsenal are still probably the third-best team. When everyone is at their absolute best, Liverpool can blow anyone off the pitch and so can Man City."

The Gunners are currently first in the Premier League table with 26 points from their 11 matches, after the 2-2 draw against Sunderland on Saturday, November 8.

Former Liverpool star Michael Owen on Arsenal and Premier League title

Michael Owen has claimed that Arsenal are capable of grinding out the Premier League title this season. He believes that the Gunners can play poorly and still manage to come away with points and said (via Metro):

"With Arsenal, it’s about not making many mistakes. I can see them grinding away, maybe having a few draws. Their style of play might just make them plug on all the way and make them hard to beat.
"When Liverpool or Man City win, they play really well and can win by four of five goals. But if L'pool play poorly, they get beat. With Arsenal you get the sense they can still play badly and grind out a win or a draw. That might just play in their favour this season but there’s a long, long way to go."

Liverpool are eighth in the Premier League table after 11 matches, following their 3-0 loss to Manchester City on Sunday, November 9. They are eight points adrift of the top, but only a point behind 4th placed Sunderland. Manchester City moved to second with their win, sitting four behind the Gunners.
