Manchester City star Erling Haaland joked that he was nervous talking to Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher after his rant about Mohamed Salah. He called the Englishman a 'loose cannon' after scoring a penalty in the 2-1 win over Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
Speaking to CBS Sports after the game, Haaland was interacting with the in-house panel of Thierry Henry, Carragher, and Micah Richards when he took a dig at the Liverpool legend. He said:
"I'm getting nervous with Jamie Carragher in the studio!"
Carragher were quick to respond, but it was Richards' question that got the attention. He asked Erling Haaland if the striker would prefer to face Antonio Rudiger again or the Liverpool legend, with the Manchester City star responding:
"I mean, I think I have to say Rudiger now because Carragher is a bit of a loose cannon now."
Carragher went on a rant on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football after Salah's comments about Liverpool and Arne Slot last week. He said:
"I think whenever Mo Salah stops in a mixed zone, which he's done four times in eight years at Liverpool, it is choreographed by him and his agent to cause maximum damage and to strengthen his own position. He did that 12 months ago and I called him out on this show about it. He played on the heartstrings of the Liverpool supporters. Liverpool were top of the league and he'd scored the wining goal at Southampton."
"He's chosen this weekend to do this now and he's waited for a bad result, they've conceded a last minute goal. The Liverpool supporters, the manager, the whole club feels like it is in the gutter at the moment, and he's chosen that time to go for the manager and maybe try and get him sacked."
Salah was furious that the club were making a scapegoat for the poor form this season, adding that he has earned his place in the team and should be starting all the games.
Mohamed Salah name-dropped Erling Haaland in his Liverpool comments
Liverpool star Mohamed Salah named Erling Haaland, backing him to win the Premier League Golden Boot this season. He added that he likes the Manchester City star and said:
"I love everyone. I love (Erling) Haaland, I will talk about him. I am the current top goalscorer in the Premier League. He is not yet. He is going to win it hopefully and that is fine for him. I love him and he knows that."
Salah was dropped from the Liverpool squad that defeated Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League this week. The Egyptian has scored just four goals in the league this season, while Erling Haaland has already notched 15 for Manchester City.
