Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi has opened up about potentially signing Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah. There has been plenty of speculation around the Egyptian winger's future, with his contract expiring next summer.
Salah has been phenomenal for the Reds since arriving from AS Roma in 2017. He's made 370 appearances for the club, recording 226 goals and 101 assists, winning numerous trophies. However, with speculation about his future, many clubs have been linked with signing him, including PSG.
The Parisians' chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently shared his thoughts on this possibility, saying (via GiveMeSport):
"I love Salah, also because he came from our part of the world. I am very proud of him, honestly, for what he's done in the Premier League.
"And I have big respect for him and for Liverpool. So we never talked to him. Respect Liverpool and respect the player - he has a contract with Liverpool and we never talked to him."
As per GiveMeSport, the Merseysiders have begun talks with Salah for a potential new contract. The player's representatives are looking for a two-year contract with an option to extend while the club would prefer a short-term deal. The two parties also remain distant on wage demands for now.
Mohamed Salah hints at Liverpool exit after Manchester City win
Mohamed Salah was vital once again as Arne Slot's side beat Manchester City 2-0 at Anfield in the Premier League on Sunday, December 1. The Egyptian winger provided an assist for Cody Gakpo in the 12th minute before converting a penalty in the 78th minute.
After the game, Salah hinted at this being his final year at the club, saying:
“Honestly… it's in my head. Until now this is the last Man City game I will play for Liverpool, so I was just going to enjoy it. I will enjoy every second here. Hopefully we just win the league and will see what will happen."
Salah has been in exceptional form this season, scoring 15 goals and providing 12 assists in 21 games across competitions. He leads the Premier League's goalscoring charts with 13 goals and is second in the assists chart with 10 assists, just two behind Bukayo Saka.
The Merseysiders, meanwhile, have also been in terrific form, having lost just one of their 21 games across competitions. They sit atop the table in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League.
