Real Madrid fans are unhappy with Vinicius Junior’s inclusion in the starting XI for their LaLiga clash against Deportivo Alaves. The two sides are set to face off at the Mendizorroza stadium on Sunday, December 14.

Manager Xabi Alonso made three changes to his starting lineup that lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. Reserve team left-back Víctor Valdepeñas has been handed his debut start for the senior team, coming in for Alvaro Carreras, who is serving a two-game suspension following his red card in the 2-0 loss to Celta Vigo.

Arda Guler returns to the midfield, with Dani Ceballos dropping to the bench. Gonzalo Garcia was also named among the substitutes, with Kylian Mbappe taking his place in the No. 9 position.

Vinicius played the full 90 minutes against City, but he drew the ire of fans for his performance in the contest.The Brazilian will feature in his usual spot on the left wing. Real Madrid lost their last two games, and with Vini in the lineup, fans fear the worst and took to X to express their dissatisfaction with the setup, with one writing:

Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso admits ‘important game’ ahead of Alaves clash

Xabi Alonso admitted that the match against Alaves is a must-win amid their poor run of form. Ahead of the clash, Real Madrid are seven points behind leaders Barcelona in the standings.

Speaking to reporters at the Real Madrid City, Alonso said:

"We have enough strength and squad despite the unavailable players. Eleven players will be out there to give their all. I'm sure that the desire, attitude and commitment will be there to try to win the game. It's an important game, and the eleven who go out there will give their best.”

There have been rumors that the Spaniard could be relieved of his duties if he fails to defeat Alaves. When asked if he has the impression that the outcome of the match will determine his future, he added:

“I always tell you that for me, the most important thing is the team and the club. Tomorrow we have a very important game because of the situation, and we want to change the dynamic of the results. We have a demanding opponent in front of us. That's what we're playing for tomorrow.”
