Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has slammed Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville for failing to criticize Arne Slot amid Liverpool's poor run of form. Ferdinand also urged the duo to call out Slot just like they did to Ruben Amorim when the Red Devils were struggling earlier this season.

Speaking in one of the latest episodes of Rio Ferdinand Presents Podcast, the centre-back said:

"I'II send them [Carragher and Neville] a message, I'll text them. They had [asked] Amorim straightaway [about the formation not working] when he weren't winning a few games. I'd like to see the same energy for Arne Slot right now please. It's the worst start Liverpool have had to a season since Brendan Rodgers was sacked."

After winning the Premier League title last season, the Reds have struggled this term. In 12 league games played, Slot's men have suffered six defeats and are ranked 11th in the standings.

A disappointing outing considering that the defending Premier League champions spent £446 million on player acquisitions last summer. Meanwhile, Carragher and Neville had earlier criticized Amorim for failing to change his tactics when Manchester United were struggling at the start of the campaign.

Thus, Ferdinand believes Slot should also be condemned for Liverpool's poor run, having won just one of their last six league games.

Former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has suggested that Arne Slot shouldn't be in danger of losing his job. He went on to claim that Slot is a brilliant manager who is going through a difficult moment at Anfield.

In a recent interview on Sky Sports, Neville spoke about the Reds' recent decline in form. He said (via Rousing The Kop):

“There’s no way that Arne Slot should be in danger of losing his job. I’ve heard murmurs if you go on social media and all of that nonsense. Forget that. Liverpool fans will say ‘well don’t talk about my football club like that’ but come on, let’s have some sense here."

He added:

"This is a really good manager who’s a brilliant, I think, front man for the club in the way he handles himself. He’s got real class. It’s a really challenging moment for him, he’s going to come under pressure, people are going to start saying those fatal words, ‘is he in trouble?’. But let’s not get too carried away with that.”

Liverpool has registered 18 points from 12 games in the Premier League this season. A poor run that has sent them into the bottom half of the table (11th). However, Neville believes that Slot remains the right man for the job amid recent calls for his dismissal.
