"He is in a tremendous moment" - Real Madrid legend details reason for Kylian Mbappe's superb form this season

Former Real Madrid striker Hugo Sanchez has heaped praise on Kylian Mbappe for his stellar start to the season. He claimed that the Frenchman is no longer shy and has proved himself a leader at the club.

Speaking to Cadena SER, Sanchez said that Mbappe's form is down to his confidence and that is the key reason he is able to stand out this season. He added that the striker was sjy in his debut season at the club and said:

“Who is better? The great players and scorers would stand out at different times. Mbappe is in a tremendous moment, he is no longer as shy as he arrived. He has that charisma of a leader and is scoring like the Mbappe that all the people were waiting for.”

Talking about the role of center-forwards and how youngsters are favoring the wings over the central role, Sanchez added:

“It’s fashionable not to be a centre-forward. More and more are being incorporated from the wing, as Cristiano Ronaldo did. Mbappe is one of those modern forwards who are seen more and more, because there are fewer ‘post forwards’, perhaps Lewandowski is one of the exceptions. In today’s football, you have to help defend and make them [opponents] uncomfortable in your own way. I remember that I constantly pressured the goalkeepers to get nervous.”

Kylian Mbappe has scored nine goals in five UEFA Champions League matches, while adding another 13 goals in as many La Liga games.

Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti spoke about Kylian Mbappe earlier this season, hailing the forward for his performances. He boldly claimed that the Frenchman had the quality to match Cristiano Ronaldo and said:

"Mbappe has a lot of quality and can match Cristiano, yes, but Cristiano set the bar very high. Mbappe is just starting out at Madrid, he's enthusiastic. But it's not going to be that easy for Mbappe to reach Cristiano's level, he has to work. Everyone was waiting for this hat-trick from him and it has finally arrived. But Mbappe is not the only one, we have many players who make a difference. And they make a difference with their collective work above their individual quality which is remarkable."
