Former Chelsea midfielder Geremi Njitap has likened star midfielder Cole Palmer to club legend and former teammate Frank Lampard over his displays for the Blues. The England international has been a revelation since ditching Manchester for London in the summer of 2023, quickly becoming one of the world's best. In an interview with FourFourTwo, former Cameroon international Geremi pointed out that in terms of their eye for goal, Palmer and Lampard are quite the same. He also praised the young Englishman for his performance for the club, singling out the FIFA Club World Cup final as an example.“Frank Lampard and Cole Palmer are both goalscorers. They can score at any time during the game. When you look at the way Frank used to play his role, he was a No.8, a player who would go from box to box. Palmer is more of an attacking player, but he has a lot of technical quality. Palmer was nothing short of fantastic in that final. I was so shocked. PSG were the team to beat, they were winning absolutely everything. But, Chelsea were convincing winners. They deserved it, and Palmer was the man of the match. He’s a great player", he said (via chelsea.news).Cole Palmer has gone from unknown prospect to earning a place in the FIFPro World XI in the space of two years at Chelsea. The 23-year-old has helped the Blues to win two major honours in his time at the club, having signed for just over £40 million from Manchester City.Geremi featured in Jose Mourinho's Blues side that conquered England in 2005 and 2006, and saw Lampard become one of the world's best midfielders. Palmer will hope to be as successful as his compatriot, who is the club's all-time top goalscorer, was at Stamford Bridge.
