Former Manchester United star Nicky Butt has spoken about how they dealt with a young Cristiano Ronaldo's penchant for diving at the club. The Englishman represented the Red Devils during his playing career, crossing paths with Ronaldo in his latter years at the club. Butt appeared on the No Tippy Tappy Football podcast alongside Sam Allardyce, revealing that Cristiano Ronaldo had picked up the habit of diving in games. He said that the team found it embarrassing and made sure to frustrate the habit out of him in training. "I remember (Cristiano) Ronaldo came in after he signed and he was doing everything, tricks and I thought you don't mind that as a young lad. But then he started diving and diving, and it was embarrassing for a team that had people like Keane, Robson, all this history. Solid team that, we don't mess about. If you want to outplay us we'll outbeat you, if you want to out fight us, we'll try to out fight you. It wasn't just possession football. And he started diving and we had one training session. I think he got taken out seven or eight times by Roy, Scholesy, me, Giggsy. They were going through him and he was nearly crying, and basically it was like 'You can't do that, don't be doing that at this football club, you don't do this in this country, we've got standards. You don't dive, you can't dive'.
