Liverpool were held to a 3-3 draw against Leeds United at Elland Road in the Premier League on Saturday, December 6. Mohamed Salah remained an unused substitute, the second such instance in the last three Premier League games. He has started the last three games on the bench as well.

After the match, the Egyptian winger gave an interview, expressing his disappointment at the situation. He also highlighted Jamie Carragher's criticism of him and said (h/t Anfield Sector):

“After what I have done for the club it really hurts. You can imagine, really. After going from home to the club and you don’t know if you are starting. I know the club too well, I have been here many years. Tomorrow [Jamie] Carragher is going to go for me again and again and that’s fine."

“I have been at this club, scoring more than anyone in this generation since I came to the Premier League, I don’t think anyone has scored more goals and made more assists than me. In the whole Premier League. If I am somewhere else, everybody would go to the media and defend the players. I am the only one in this situation."

Further speaking about the alleged media hypocrisy, the Liverpool legend mentioned England captain Harry Kane and said:

“Can I give an example? It’s silly but I am sorry. I remember a while go, Harry Kane was not scoring for ten games, everyone in the media was like, ‘Oh, Harry will score for sure.’ When it comes to Mo, everyone is like, ‘He needs to be on the bench.’ I am sorry Harry!”

Notably, Harry Kane has never had a 10-game goalscoring drought in his senior professional career.

When Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher claimed Mohamed Salah's 'legs are gone'

Liverpool lost 4-1 against PSV Eindhoven at Anfield in the UEFA Champions League on November 26. Mohamed Salah played the entire 90 minutes but failed to make a big impact. After the game, Jamie Carragher shared his thoughts on the club's situation on CBS Sports.

He highlighted that Virgil van Dijk, Alisson Becker, and Salah have been struggling, saying (h/t Mirror):

"Alisson is injured a lot now so he doesn't play so much. But you're watching Van Dijk now - not the same player. And Mo Salah looks like his legs have gone. I don't like criticising them and I think some of the criticism of them this season as players has been harsh."

The former England defender also claimed that the Egypt international should have done an interview after the game.

Salah joined Liverpool from AS Roma in 2017 and has contributed 250 goals and 116 assists in 420 games across competitions. He's helped them win two Premier League titles and one Champions League trophy, among other honors.
