In what was somewhat surprising, Burnley disregarded their underdog status and took the game to the visitors in the early exchanges. However, their threats in the final third were repelled by Chelsea defenders. The visitors found their rhythm as the game progressed and took the lead in the 37th minute when Pedro Neto brilliantly headed home Jamie Gittens' floating cross.

Chelsea regained possession in the second half but struggled in the attacking third. Two minutes from time, substitute Marc Guiu muscled off a defender and teed up Enzo Fernandez, who sealed the win.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Maresca said:

"Be ready. Andrey [Santos] is doing very good. Today is a tough game, he is not playing much. It is not easy when you don't play a lot."

On the match, Maresca added:

"I didn't like this kind of win, because it's tough. It's tough after the international break, 12:30, Burnley away, it's always a tough game. But the way we competed I am very happy.

"To come here and not concede is very difficult. It's normal to concede something. But overall they only had one real chance. During the game they didn't have any big chances and during the game we had loads of chances.”

Chelsea sit second in the Premier League table for the time being. They will face Barcelona in their next outing in the Champions League on Tuesday, November 25.
