Speaking on The Overlap's Stick To Football podcast, Solskjaer also named Scott McTominay as a player who would have survived in the squad under Sir Alex Ferguson. Jill Scott was quick to ask him to name current Manchester United players who would have made it under the legendary manager, and the Norwegian replied:

“Well, for me, I can only speak about the ones that I’ve worked with. And you look at Bruno, he’d survive, he’d fight you probably, and definitely you (Neville and Keane) and Harry, I’m sure Harry would survive, definitely. Just personality, quality.”

Gary Neville asked Solskjaer to comment on Maguire's recent months at the club, and the former Red Devils manager added:

"Well, I've not been in touch with him too often throughout there, but I think he's shown great character the the way the type of person is and I think he's shown the quality as well and but strength of this mental strength to to still perform when when he's had his critics and he's had a few bad games. He's made mistakes, but then got back in."

Ole Gunner Solskjaer managed 149 matches at Manchester United after his initial stint of 19 games as an interim manager. He played 366 matches for the Red Devils during his playing career, scoring 126 times, including the dramatic winner against Bayern Munich in the 1998/99 UEFA Champions League final.

Harry Maguire on Manchester United failing after Sir Alex Ferguson's exit

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire accepted that the Red Devils have not been close to their best since Sir Alex Ferguson retired in 2013. He believes that the players have not thrived under pressure and told Rio Ferdinand (via GOAL):

"There has been a transition period, obviously, when Sir Alex [Ferguson] was here and we had the best team by far and won all the trophies. But the reality is that we're not the best team. You've got to thrive off the pressure and you've got to play like you're playing in a playground. I think that's what we've struggled to find over the last 10 years."

Harry Maguire is in the final year of his contract at Manchester United. He remains in talks over a new deal, but they have yet to reach an agreement.
