Liverpool fans have expressed their delight at the performance of superstar forward Mohamed Salah in their 2-0 win over Aston Villa. The reigning Premier League champions picked up only a second win in eight outings to return to winning ways in the English top-flight.

Talismanic forward Salah was named in the starting XI in what was a must-win match for Liverpool after he was rested for their EFL Cup defeat to Crystal Palace in mid-week. Arne Slot restored the 33-year-old into the lineup alongside several other regulars, and he made his presence felt for the second game running.

Mohamed Salah opened the scoring for the Reds at Anfield, scoring his second goal in as many games for his side. Mohamed Salah enjoyed a fine showing at Anfield, scoring with his only shot on target in the encounter. The former AS Roma man completed four dribbles, more than any other player on the pitch, and created one chance. He won seven ground duels and made four ball recoveries in the game.

Liverpool end wretched domestic run with fine win

Liverpool ended their five-match domestic losing run with a 2-0 win over Aston Villa in front of their fans at Anfield. The Reds scored once in each half to climb up to third in the Premier League and seemingly get back on track.

The Reds thought they had gone ahead in the 43rd minute when Hugo Ekitike headed home from inside the box, only for the VAR to cut short their celebrations. Their disappointment was short-lived, however, as Mohamed Salah benefitted from a gift to open the scoring in first half added time with his 250th Liverpool goal.

Arne Slot's side doubled their advantage in the 58th minute when Ryan Gravenberch, on his return from injury, saw his shot deflect into the back of the net. The Reds kept a first clean sheet in 11 games, showing significant improvements from their recent showings as they returned to winning ways.
