Real Madrid fans on X were unimpressed with Rodrygo’s performance during their LaLiga match against Athletic Bilbao on Wednesday, December 3. The Brazilian winger came on as a substitute but made little impact in the few minutes he spent on the pitch.

Eager to end a winless run in the league, Real Madrid started strongly and took the lead after just seven minutes. Kylian Mbappe beautifully controlled Trent Alexander-Arnold’s raking pass close to the halfway line in the opposition half and slalomed his way past a number of Bilbao players before curling his strike past Unai Simon.

Three minutes shy of the first period, Mbappe turned provider, setting up Eduardo Camavinga for Real Madrid’s second. Just before the hour mark, the Frenchman scored his second of the night and put Los Blancos 3-0 up with a long-range strike that snuck in at the near post.

During the 12 minutes he spent on the pitch, Rodrygo didn’t have the best of cameos. He was Los Blancos’ lowest-rated player with a match rating of 6.4, according to SofaScore. Having failed to find the back of the net at San Mames, Rodrygo has now gone 31 games without a goal for Real Madrid—the worst-ever streak for a Los Blancos attacker.

After the match, fans took to X social media to slam the 24-year-old for his display, with one writing:

Another tweeted:

“Rodrygo bro I can’t keep defending you.”

A third added:

“Rodrygo is playing like someone who's making his debut season for a club.. so timid.”

“It's almost impossible how every ball possession that goes by Rodrygo, gets worse,” another chimed in.

“Rodrygo football IQ gets worse every game,” a fan claimed.

“It was our most complete performance in a demanding stadium” – Xabi Alonso on Real Madrid’s 3-0 win over Athletic Club

Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso couldn’t hide his satisfaction after his team returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win at San Mares. Prior to Wednesday’s clash, the capital club were winless in their last three league games.

Speaking to reporters after the game, Alonso said:

“"It was an important match; we wanted to break the trend. We came in calm and prepared. It was a very complete performance, we were very focused for the full 90 minutes, barely conceding any chances. And we created many ourselves. It was our most complete performance in a demanding stadium. But we're taking it easy, we'll keep going."

The win meant Los Blancos have reduced the gap between them and leaders Barcelona to one point.
