Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has admitted that Diogo Dalot cannot cross from the left flank because he is right-footed. He believes that this is a key reason why the Portuguese defender tries to drift in and is then left without space.

Speaking to the media after their 2-2 Premier League draw against Nottingham Forest, Amorim conceded that starting Dalot as a left wing-back posed an issue. He pointed out how the defender was unable to cross from his left foot, leaving him without space by the time he cuts back. He said (via CentreDevils):

"If you see Dalot, many times Dalot has the ball with space to make the cross, but he's a right footer, he's always inside without space."

Talking about the game, he added that his side were in control, but five minutes of subpar performance saw them fall behind. He said (via club website):

"We lost control of the game for five minutes and we paid the price. I felt that the level of energy was not the same compared to the last game. Sometimes, when you play away, you can feel that. [My players] gave everything, and you could see it in the game but, in the small details, the energy was not the same. We have to work on that. Like I was saying, we were in control of the game. In the Premier League, if you disconnect for five minutes, you can change the result."

Manchester United took the lead through Casemiro, but fell behind after Nottingham Forest scored twice in the first five minutes of the second half. Amad Diallo scored the equalizer with nine minutes left in the game.

He said (via club website):

"Amad has a lot of talent, he is growing up really fast. I think we have a lot of players that are young and talented but we need to help in all the details. He is improving a lot; he can play in different positions. I think he can be so much better.

"More consistent in every detail, when he receives the ball, in build-up, when he is in the final third. You could see in the first half he had some opportunities. In a lot of games, he has that opportunity coming inside and the shot is not there yet. We are working on that, so he has potential to do better."

Manchester United are now seventh in the league table, eight points behind leaders Arsenal. They face Tottenham Hotspur next in the Premier League on Saturday, November 8.
