Guti sheds light on what Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe need to do in order to 'dethrone' Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo 

Real Madrid legend Guti believes Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal need to find consistency to dethrone Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. He added that the two icons of football are on the same level, and no one comes close.

Speaking to AS, Guti claimed that no player would reach Ronaldo's level at Real Madrid. He said that the challenge for any player to reach the heights of the GOATs is to maintain their level for a long time, not just for 10 games. He said:

"No one is going to beat Cristiano. He is a player who has marked an era at Real Madrid and in football for his continuity. That's the most important thing for any player who wants to unseat Cristiano and Messi, which I put on the same level. It's not enough to play ten good games, and when it's important not to be there. The two of them always appeared. That is the challenge that Mbappé, Lamine, or anyone else who wants to get close to them have."

However, he has backed Mbappe to break Ronaldo's record for most goals in a calendar year and said:

"It will happen to him no matter what. We are seeing an incredible version of Mbappé. He is above the level of the team. Thanks to him, games are won and that makes him a leading player within the team. Kylian must continue along that line to put more players on that bandwagon and we see a Real Madrid champion."

Lionel Messi still holds the record for most goals in a calendar year with 91 goals. Cristiano Ronaldo's record at Real Madrid stands at 59, and Mbappe is just four goals away.

Real Madrid legend Guti believes Kylian Mbappe can reach the heights of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. He doubts Lamine Yamal will be able to match the Frenchman and said:

"I see him as a great player and a potential Ballon d’Or winner, but you’re talking about three players who are the best in the world. Maradona won the World Cup in Mexico without having a great team, and Messi and Cristiano scored 50 goals for ten years straight. That’s going to be very difficult for anyone to achieve. I see Kylian closer to accomplishing it than Lamine.”

Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi battled for nine seasons in La Liga before the Real Madrid forward left for Juventus in 2018.
