After losing his spot in the starting XI for three consecutive league games, Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah publicly spoke out against Slot, claiming he was being thrown under the bus. This resulted in the Egyptian King being left out of the squad that secured a 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

However, following a reported discussion between the pair, Salah has been included in the squad to face Brighton, but has been named on the bench. On the other hand, Federico Chiesa has been omitted despite recording two goals and three assists in 15 appearances across all competitons this season (384 minutes played).

"It is a tough one" - Chris Sutton makes scoreline prediction for Liverpool vs Brighton

BBC Sport columnist Chris Sutton has backed Brighton to hold Liverpool to a 2-2 draw at Anfield in their upcoming Premier League clash.

The reigning champions have struggled for form this season and are currently 10th in the table with 23 points from 15 games, losing six games to date. They have only won one out of their last five league fixtures and are behind eighth-placed Brighton on goal difference.

Sutton wrote (via BBC Sport):

"Liverpool changed their shape against Inter and went with a midfield diamond and two up top. Everyone is going to be talking about whether Salah is back for this game, but the only way he is going to be reintegrated into the squad is if he apologises. Slot's focus will be on winning this game, but it is a tough one."

He added:

"You could argue it is the same for most teams but I find Brighton so hard to predict. I always feel they have got a goal in them, but they are quite open too. Liverpool need to get back to winning consistently and putting a run together, but I am not sure how much their efforts at the San Siro will have taken out of them."

"I have whacked a couple of Brighton players in my FPL team, Jan Paul van Hecke and Danny Welbeck, so they will probably lose now - but I do fancy them to get something at Anfield."

The last time these two sides faced off at Anfield, the Reds secured a 2-1 win following Mohamed Salah's second-half winner (November 2, 2024).
