Manchester United legend Roy Keane has predicted the result and goalscorer of the upcoming Premier League match between Everton and Arsenal. The two sides are set to face off at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday, December 20.
Mikel Arteta’s side secured a last-gasp 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their last league match to maintain their lead at the top of the table. A win against the Toffees wiould see them go into Christmas sitting atop the Premier League table.
During a recent episode of The Overlap, Keane backed the Gunners to get all three points against Everton but tipped the Merseysiders to score a goal from a set piece through James Tarkowski.
“2-1. I think Everton might get one from a set piece. Tarkowski. 2-1 Arsenal,” Keane said.
The Gunners dropped points against Everton both home and away last season. They were held to a goalless stalemate in the first leg at the Emirates Stadium and played out a 1-1 draw in the return leg at Goodison Park.
“Could be a tough one” – Alan Smith predicts Everton vs. Arsenal clash
Former England international Alan Smith believes Arsenal will have to grind out a result when they take on Everton on Saturday. Prior to their 2-0 loss to Chelsea last Saturday, the Toffees had won four of their five previous matches. That run of form bode well for them against the Gunners, given the results of their recent meetings.
Speaking to Best Betting Sites UK, Smith reckons the game could prove ‘tough’ for the Gunners but backed them to secure all three points.
“Could be a tough one for Arsenal, but I’m going to go 3-1 to the Gooners,” he said.
Opta also predicted the Gunners to emerge victorious in the contest. The supercomputer gave the North Londoners a 60.4 percent chance of winning, while the Toffees got a 19 percent chance of securing the win. The likelihood of a draw is 20.6 percent. Ahead of the clash, the Gunners sit atop the table with 36 points after 16 matches, while Everton are ninth with 24 points.
