Real Madrid fans have suggested that Xabi Alonso should be fired after his squad was held to a 1-1 LaLiga draw against Girona. This comes as Los Blancos are now one point behind leaders Barcelona, having failed to win their last three league games.
Real Madrid dictated proceedings at the start of the encounter against Girona, and Kylian Mbappe thought he had broken the deadlock in the 40th minute. However, his goal was ruled out by the video assistant referee for a handball in the build-up.
Five minutes later (45’), Azzedine Ounahi rifled his strike into the back of the net to put the hosts ahead. Vinicius Junior won his side a much-needed opportunity to make the scoreline even after Hugo Rincon fouled him in the penalty box in the 65th minute.
Two minutes later (67'), Mbappe dispatched the penalty into the back of the net to bring Real Madrid on level terms. After scoring from the spot, the visitors strived but failed to score the goal that might have guaranteed all three points.
Thus, the encounter ended 1-1 as both teams shared the spoils. Notably, Los Blancos won nine out of their opening ten games of the 2025-26 LaLiga term.
However, they were held to two consecutive draws against Rayo Vallecano and Elche, leading to the game against Girona. After they also dropped points against Blanquivermells, disappointed Real Madrid supporters took to X to vent their frustration with the manager.
One fan tweeted:
"XABI OUT ENOUGH IS ENOUGH."

"Season is still long" - Xabi Alonso says as Real Madrid fail to win their third consecutive LaLiga encounter

Los Blancos manager Xabi Alonso has suggested that the 2025-26 LaLiga campaign is far from being completed. He went on to claim that the structure of the league table will change several times.
Speaking in a post-match conference after Los Blancos failed to defeat Girona, Alonso said (via Madrid Xtra on X):
"Season is still long. The table will change many times. We have the opportunity to get 3 points next game."
Los Blancos have registered 33 points from 14 league games this season and are one point behind leaders Barcelona (34) in the title race. Alonso's men will travel to Bilbao to take on Athletic Bilbao in their next league game on Wednesday, December 3.
