The Egyptian FA has posted a message of support for Mohamed Salah after he slammed Liverpool manager Arne Slot. They shared a photo of the national team captain with 'The Egyptian King' written on it.
Taking to social media, the official account posted in support of Salah, after he claimed that he was being thrown under the bus at Liverpool. They were quick to share that they were fully behind the forward, and captioned it:
"You will never walk alone. You are always the best"
Mohamed Salah revealed in an explosive interview with journalists in the mixed zone on Saturday, December 6, that he had invited his parents to Anfield next week. He hinted that it was going to be his final game for the club and said (via The Sportzine):
"I called my mum and dad and told them to come to the Brighton game. It doesn't matter if I play or not. I'm going to enjoy it. I'm just going to be at Anfield and say goodbye to the fans before the African Cup of Nations, because I don’t know what is going to happen when I am there."
"It’s not acceptable to me to be fair. If I was somewhere else, every club would protect its players. Now, it’s 'Throw Mo under the bus because he is a problem in a team'. I don’t think I am a problem. I am not fighting for my position every day because I have earned it. I am not bigger than the club. I am not bigger than anything. But I have earned it."
Liverpool face Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League next weekend, and it would be Mohamed Salah's final game before heading to represent Egypt at AFCON.
Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah slammed by former Premier League star
Former Premier League star Chris Sutton took to X (formerly Twitter) on Saturday night to slam Mohamed Salah for his comments on Liverpool and Arne Slot. He posted:
"Embarrassing from Mo Salah and disrespectful to his team-mates and his manager. Salah is no different from any other player … if a player’s form drops as Salah’s has he is the same as anyone else and has to accept being benched… but he thinks he’s too good to be benched sadly…"
Mohamed Salah has played just 45 minutes across the last three Premier League matches and is unhappy with his situation at the club. He signed a new deal in the summer and has accused the club of breaking their promise.
