Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has slammed manager Ruben Amroin in a sensational rant. The Englishman claims that the coach does not understand the club, much as the officials above him do not.
Speaking on The Good, The Bad and The Ugly podcast, Scholes said that Amorim does not use a system that works well for Manchester United. He added that they also do not attack enough and start relaxing after taking the lead. He said (via Centre Devils):
"I don't think this manager just gets this club, full stop. I just don't think he's the right man. Man United is about risk and entertainment more than anything. At home, especially. Having fans on the edge of their seat, f*cking ready to go. Wingers who beat people, shots on goal, bits of skill. There's nothing there. That's from the club."
"We talk about this as a different club. They've got Omar Berrada, they've got Jason Wilcox, who are probably brilliant at their job, brilliant at what they do. They're not Man United, they don't have a clue what it's like to buy a Man United player, to bring a Man United manager in. If you go to Sporting Lisbon and watch, they play three at the back. Right away, that's no. Man United never do that. They can't do that. They just can't. It's been proven over years and years and years. And I'm talking even before Sir Alex Ferguson, it was always about 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2. Entertaining people."
"He hasn't got that in him. He brought four defenders on against West Ham. If we go 1-0 up, the manager always said, 2, 3, 4. I remember once, I think we were playing Chelsea. Went 1-0 up and, we sat back a little bit. Now, Chelsea were a good team. The manager went absolutely nuts after the game. That doesn't happen here. When you score one, you go for two. You go for the throw every single time. I just don't think he gets it."
Scholes has been vocal about Amorim, and has repeatedly said that he is not happy with the manager's tactics since taking over at Manchester United.
Paul Scholes slammed Manchester United manager for Kobbie Mainoo decision
Paul Scholes was furious with Ruben Amorim earlier this month, claiming that the manager was ruining Kobbie Mainoo. He said that the Manchester United star should consider leaving the club and posted on Instagram:
"The kid is being ruined, not being played in a team that can't control a game of football. Hate seeing homegrown players leave, but it's probably best for him now, enough is enough."
Mainoo has played just 3-0 minutes for Manchester United in all competitions this season.
