Thierry Henry has shared his thoughts on Liverpool star Mohamed Salah's recent explosive interview. He claimed that the winger should have kept things private and not spoken up.
Salah spoke to journalists in the mixed zone after Liverpool's 3-3 draw at Leeds United in the Premier League on December 6. He claimed that his relationship with head coach Arne Slot is broken and added that he feels the club is throwing him under the bus.
Arsenal legend Thierry Henry shared his thoughts on this interview on CBS Sports on Tuesday, saying:
”I had problems with Wenger, with Guardiola. Have you ever heard me talk about it publicly? NEVER. I protected the club. When you play for a club, you must protect it at all costs. No matter what’s happening internally, you protect the club — your teammates, the manager, the staff. You can be angry, frustrated, disagree but you don’t air dirty laundry in public, especially when the club is going through difficult moments.
“Instead, you wait, you sort things out internally, and then, if you want to leave or speak your mind, you do it at the right time. I understand the ego and Mo’s frustration. He scores 38 goals and ends up on the bench, but there comes a point where you must put the team before yourself,” he added.
Salah was left out of Liverpool's squad as they beat Inter Milan 1-0 at San Siro in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Liverpool star Andy Robertson on Mohamed Salah's interview after win over Inter Milan
After the Reds beat Inter Milan 1-0, Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson shared his thoughts on Mohamed Salah's comments. He said that the Egyptian winger takes a lot of pressure to perform for the team, highlighting his performances last season.
The Scotland international told CBS Sports:
"Firstly, we probably want the season to have went better for the club and for him. He puts a huge amount of pressure on himself to perform all the time and last season, he took it to a whole new level in terms of at times, he carried this whole team forward to go and achieve amazing things.
"I think we've all been below the standards of last season, Mo included, and he'll be the first to admit that and then obviously, he finds himself out of the team, which is a bit of a unique situation for him."
Liverpool will next face Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield in the Premier League on Saturday, December 13. It's unclear whether Salah will feature or not.
