Barcelona star Raphinha's wife, Natalia Rodrigues, has taken shots after the Brazilian winger was left out of The Best FIFA Men's XI. She questioned if those voting thought the former Leeds United star was playing basketball.On Instagram, Natalia posted a series of stories before swiftly deleting them. She shared multiple posts highlighting the winger's contributions to Barcelona and Brazil during the 2024/25 season, including his goal and assists tally, and then said they were not hiding their bias.Raphina spoke about the Ballon d'Or snub earlier this year, and said that he expected to finish higher. He finished fifth in the race with 620 votes, less than half of what eventual winner Ousmane Dembele got. He spoke to GQ Hype about the snub and said:“When you give so much, work hard every day, and feel you’ve had an incredible season, you naturally expect to be among the best. Finishing fifth was an honour, of course, but my expectations were higher.”“What makes this moment so unique is the combination of technical growth, accumulated experience, and mental balance. Today I feel I can play with more freedom, read the game better, and handle pressure in a more mature way.”However, he was not focused on the awards and said that he was thinking about the FIFA World Cup (via GOAL):“Winning the World Cup with Brazil would be the biggest dream of my career. I grew up playing barefoot in the streets of Restinga, dreaming of representing my country, it’s an honour and a huge responsibility. Football in Brazil is like a religion.”Raphinha joined Barcelona in 2022, and played a key role under Hansi Flick as they went on to win the Copa del Rey and La Liga last season.Raphiha commented on his rivalry with Barcelona teammate Lamine YamalRaphinha was quizzed about his rivalry with Lamine Yamal at Barcelona and he was quick to downplay it. He said that they were pushing each other to do their best and had a healthy relationship.“That rivalry simply doesn’t exist. What truly exists between us is a mutual desire to perform at our best, to push each other, and to help the team. Off the field, our relationship is very strong. Lamine is like family.”The Brazilian added that his goal was to retire at the Catalan side and said:“I would love to retire at Barca and leave my mark on the club. But football is unpredictable, so I try to live in the present and give my best every day in this shirt.”Raphinha has a contract with Barcelona until 2028.
