Pedro Neto has found himself at the center of criticism from fans following his performance during Chelsea’s Premier League clash against Bournemouth. The 25-year-old wasn’t at his very best on the afternoon as the Blues were held to a goalless stalemate at the Vitality Stadium.

Despite losing 3-1 to Leeds United in midweek, Chelsea didn’t seem to be eager to turn a corner from the outset, as Bournemouth looked the brighter side in the opening exchanges. In fact, Antoine Semenyo thought he had given the Cherries the lead in the fourth minute only for his goal to be ruled out for an offside on Evanilson.

Enzo Maresca’s side picked themselves up as the game progressed but offered little threat in attack, as they failed to register a shot on target in the first 45 minutes. The Blues looked livelier in the second half, but Bournemouth’s defense proved a hard nut to crack, forcing a share of the spoils.

Neto, who has arguably been Chelsea’s best player this season, had a rather quiet outing and cut a frustrated figure at some point in the game. The Portuguese winger lost possession 12 times, didn’t complete any of his two attempted take-ons, and received a match rating of 6.8, according to Sofascore. After the match, fans took to X to hit out at him for his display, with one writing:

“Neto complains about everything, even when he’s at fault.”

Another tweeted:

“Seriously, is it physically possible for Pedro Neto to put an early cross into the box?”

A third added:

“Neto is in that position so many times and just does nothing with the ball.”

“Neto is so dull today. What’s wrong? 😑” a fan remarked.

Another queried:

“Why is Neto on the pitch, bro?”

“We missed a bit of quality” – Enzo Maresca on Chelsea’s 0-0 draw with Bournemouth

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca couldn’t hide his disappointment after his side were held to a goalless draw at Bournemouth. Speaking after the match, Maresca admitted that they lack the cutting edge in the final third and promised to turn an unwanted form around when they face Atalanta in the Champions League on Tuesday, December 9.

He told Sky Sports:

“I think we tried to win the game. We had some chances. I said many times it's important not to lose when you don't win. We missed a bit of quality in the last third but we need to go again on Tuesday.”

The result meant Chelsea remained fourth in the Premier League table.
