Premier League Hall of Famer John Terry believes Chelsea can challenge Arsenal for the Premier League title this season. He has ruled Liverpool out of the race and believes the clash next week will be a big game for both clubs.
In a TikTok video, Terry said only his former side can make it tough for Arsenal in the Premier League title race. He named Liverpool as the side that are already out of the running, and has ignored Manchester City and said (via Metro):
"A big game at the weekend now as Arsenal come to the Bridge, where it's going to be a very big game. I'm not saying it's going to be a title decider but I think it's going to be one of the two teams [who win the league]. For me, Liverpool are 100 per cent out of the title race. Liverpool look they're really struggling at the moment."
Talking about the win over Burnley last weekend, Terry said that Enzo Maresca's side have done well and said:
"A good away from the boys, really important to pick up the three points, especially after sustaining a little bit of pressure in the first half from Burnley. I said they would try and hit us on the counterattack and they definitely did that in the first half and we had three unbelievable blocks defensively."
The Blues are six points behind Arsenal in the Premier League table, and the two teams clash at Stamford Bridge next.
Chelsea are not in the title race with Arsenal, says Gary Neville
Manchester United legend Gary Neville has claimed that Chelsea are not in the title race despite their decent start to the season. He believes that the Blues will battle to stay in the top four and said:
"That will be really interesting for Chelsea next week and a good measure for them. What we’ll see with Chelsea during the season is they’ll win a lot of football matches that we think they should do. They’ll tease us and they’ll get close but then they will drop points and maybe drop down to fifth or sixth and then come up to fourth. That’s where we’ll see them move between sixth and second and third and that where we’ll see Chelsea operate in the season."
The Blues have not beaten Arsenal at home in the Premier League since 2018, when they had won 3-2 with Marcos Alonso scoring the winner in the 81st minute.
