Chelsea have been handed a major boost ahead of their Premier League meeting with Arsenal as star midfielder Cole Palmer is set to feature. The Blues have been without their talisman for months due to a series of physical problems that have kept him sidelined.

Chelsea coach Enzo Maresca spoke with reporters at his press conference ahead of the game against Arsenal on Sunday, answering questions on Palmer's availability. The Italian tactician revealed that his number ten is fully fit and available to play from the start at Stamford Bridge.

Cole Palmer has been struggling with a groin problem since the end of the 2024-25 season and missed a handful of games at the start of this campaign. The 23-year-old was forced off in the first half against Manchester United in September, and has not featured for club or country since.

Palmer was earmarked for a return to action after the international break last week but suffered a freak injury in his home, delaying his return. The Blue's have adjusted very well to his absence, winning ten of 14 games since he was first ruled out. They have had 16 different players find the back of the net, and only Manchester City and Arsenal have scored more Premier League goals than they have.

Cole Palmer has only played four times this season, scoring two goals for the Blues. During his spell out injured, he has been named in the FIFPro World XI for 2025 and nominated for this year's FIFA The Best Men's Player of the Year, as well.

Chelsea handed boost as midfielder returns to full training

Chelsea have received a major boost as midfielder Dario Essugo is closing in on a return to action for the club. The young Portuguese star has returned to full training for the side after spending the last 10 weeks on the sidelines with a thigh problem.

Enzo Maresca revealed in his press conference that Essugo trained with the rest of the squad on Friday morning. This marked the first time that the 20-year-old has been able to train since his surgery on September and has been deemed to be good news by the Italian.

Former Sporting Club midfielder Essugo made his official debut for Chelsea at the FIFA Club World Cup in the summer, but has not played this season. The youngster, who was signed as a deputy for Moises Caicedo, suffered his injury while on international duty with the Portugal U-21 national team.
