“But I won’t call him!” - Barcelona star reveals Cristiano Ronaldo is the most famous person in his phone contacts list

Barcelona goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has named Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo as the most famous contact on his phone. The erstwhile Poland international is in his second season with La Blaugrana, having reversed his retirement decision to join them last summer.

In a chat with the club's media team, veteran shot-stopper Szczesny answered a question about the most famous person on his phone's contact list. He responded with Cristiano Ronaldo's name before stating that he did not plan on calling the 40-year-old.

"Most famous person in my contact? Cristiano Ronaldo, but I won't call him! (laughs) Just proving he's in my phone. Don't worry, we won't call", he said (via @BarcaTimes on X).

The paths of Cristiano Ronaldo and Wojciech Szczesny crossed while they played for Italian giants Juventus between 2018 and 2021. They almost became teammates once more in the summer of 2024 as Al-Nassr sought to sign the former Arsenal goalkeeper but failed to agree on a deal with Juventus. The 35-year-old decided to retire afterwards before re-emerging in the colors of Barcelona a few months later.

Signed to serve as a back-up option, Szczesny has been thrust into the line of fire for the second time in as many seasons with the Spanish giants. The experienced goalkeeper has started regularly for Barcelona since Joan Garcia suffered a knee injury in September, and could remain in goal until next month.
