The Brazil national team has issued a statement with regards to the injury suffered by Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes on international duty. The 27-year-old centre-back was forced off in the second half of Brazil's friendly win over Senegal in London, leaving his club to sweat over his fitness.

Gabriel has been left out of the squad for the second one of the Selecao's friendlies this month against Tunisia, which is set to take place in Lille. According to the statement from Brazil, imagine tests revealed that the former Lille man has suffered a muscle injury in his right thigh and will stay behind in London.

"Arsenal player Gabriel Magalhaes was re-evaluated this Sunday (November 16) and underwent imaging tests that revealed a muscle injury in his right thigh. Therefore, the player will not be travelling with the team to the match against Tunisia in Lille. No other player will be called up to replace him", the statement read (via GOAL).

Gabriel Magalhaes started the game against Senegal at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium but came off just four minutes into the second half. He injured his adductor muscle, leaving his club with a nervous wait to learn of the extent of the injury to the defender.

Mikel Arteta's side will hope that the injury is not severe as they face a tough run of fixtures after the international break, starting with the visit of Tottenham Hotspur. The Gunners will then take on Bayern Munich, who have yet to lose a game this season, before travelling to West London for a meeting with Chelsea.

Gabriel will commence his treatment immediately to give him the best chance of recovering in time for the return of club football. The Gunners lost Riccardo Calafiori to a hip injury last week, as well, leaving them slightly depleted at the back.

Arsenal star emerged unscathed after scare on international duty

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber emerged unscathed after he featured for the Dutch national team in their World Cup qualifier against Lithuania. The right-back appeared to have suffered an injury in the first half but recovered to continue the game afterwards.

Timber was on the receiving end of a firm tackle from Lithuania star Edgaras Utkus to his knee in the 36th minute of the clash. The former Ajax man was left clutching the knee in pain after the challenge, with images showing that he had been left with a gash afterwards.

The reaction of Timber to the challenge would have left the Arsenal staff worried, as the 24-year-old has previously damaged his ACL within weeks of joining the club. He remained on the pitch until after the hour-mark before Sunderland star Lutsharel Geertruida was introduced to see out the game.
