Ronald Araujo is reportedly among the senior Barcelona players at the club unhappy with Lamine Yamal and his father for their antics before Real Madrid game. Yamal and his father both sparked considerable controversy in the buildup to El Clasico on Sunday, October 26.
Hansi Flick's side suffered a costly defeat at the hands of Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu. Kylian Mbappe and Jude Bellingham scored for Xabi Alonso's side while Fermin Lopez scored for the Blaugrana.
Real Madrid extended their lead at the top of the LaLiga table to five points with a win against their arch rivals. Following the game, it has been reported that a number of senior Barcelona players are unhappy with Lamine Yamal's antics off the pitch.
As reported by El Nacional, vice-captain Ronald Araujo is among the players to have shown discontent with his teammate and his father. When asked about Yamal's comments ahead of the game, the Uruguayan stated:
"I don't want to talk about him , I can only say that he is a great professional, one of the best in the world, and we are happy to have him. He is of age, he knows what he has to do."
The report claims that several senior players believe that Yamal has been poorly advised off the pitch. The 18-year-old has often made headlines because of his antics and comments on the pitch.
Ahead of the latest El Clasico, the Barcelona wonderkid accused Real Madrid of stealing and complaining. He failed to make much of an impact against Los Blancos on Sunday as his side suffered a defeat.
Barcelona star Frenkie De Jong pins blame on Dani Carvajal as he talks about post-match incident
Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong hit out at Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal following the Catalan giants' 2-1 defeat against Los Blancos. He urged the experienced Spanish defender to vent his frustration with Lamine Yamal privately rather than creating a scene on the pitch. Following the game, de Jong said, as quoted by GOAL:
"I didn't see what happened. I was on the bench and saw a lot of people. When the referee blew his whistle, Real Madrid players went after Lamine. It's a bit exaggerated. You'd have to ask them. In the first half, we weren't sharp with the ball. Madrid hurt with their players up front. In the second half, we lacked the ability to create danger and clear chances."
The Dutchman added:
"If Carvajal wanted to speak with Lamine, call him or text him. Making gestures on the pitch just fuels the fire. Lamine never said Real Madrid cheats, I never heard that. You're team-mates, you know each other. Why do you have to make a scene on the pitch?"
Real Madrid defender Dani Carvajal was seen publicly confronting Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal after the full-time whistle. His teammates Thibaut Courtois and Vinicius Junior were also seen confronting the 18-year-old leading to a heated exchange.
