Speaking to the media after the game, Rosenior said that Guiu was always in the right positions during the match and that played a key role in their win. He said (via Football London):

"Guiu was top. His positioning, his pressing, he deserved his goal. He was always in the right position where we needed him to be tactically."

The striker was a fox in the box against Charlton Athletic, reacting the quickest to tap the ball in after a brilliant save from Will Mannion to deny Facundo Buonanotte. Jamie Gittens also managed to impress on the outing on the right wing, and Rosenior added:

"I felt Jamie Gittens was very good. I felt Ale [Garnacho] is so close to scoring a fantastic goal. He kept going one for one on the side. I believe in this group. I believe in all of them. And if we want to have a really strong season, we need to use them. I need to put faith into them, and they repaid my faith today. And they've given me real cause for optimism for the future."

Jorrel Hato opened the scoring for the Blues in the first half, before Tosin Adarabioyo, Pedro Neto, and Enzo Fernandez added goals in the second half to seal the easy win in Liam Rosenior's first Chelsea game.

Chelsea missed three key players in Charlton Athletic win

Cole Palmer, Malo Gusto, and Reece James were not in the squad for Chelsea as they faced Charlton Athletic on Saturday, January 10. Liam Rosenior admitted that the trio had issues after the Fulham loss, but were left behind as a precaution.

"Malo, Cole, and Reece were precautionary today. I don't want to take any risks at this stage of the season. They had minor tweaks or knocks from the Fulham game. And I didn't feel... I feel like I've got such a good squad here. I don't need to risk their health at the moment. We have a huge game on Wednesday. We have a huge game on Saturday. And I'll check the medical reports tonight and tomorrow morning and see how they are then."

Chelsea face Arsenal next in the Carabao Cup semifinal first leg at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, January 15.
