Hansi Flick has responded when asked whether he would like to manage the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner. He said:

“Why not? Messi is the best player of the last ten years. I’ve always enjoyed watching him play football, and he’d be perfect for any team. But his contract ends in 2028 and mine in 2027. So it’s not a question,”

Barca president Joan Laporta has also addressed speculations regading Messi's potential return to the club. He said:

“Leo Messi’s return as a player is something just not realistic. As of now, he has a contract with Inter Miami. The club is building a project for the present and future. It's complicated, and if you live in the past, you hardly move forward”.

Lionel Messi left Barca in 2021 following his contract expiry when the Catalan giants were going through financial turmoil. He joined PSG in 2021 before moving to MLS side Inter Miami in 2023.
