Spain national teams are reportedly divided over choosing sides in Lamine Yamal and Dani Carvajal's spat in El Clasico. The two compatriots were spotted involved in a brawl after Real Madrid beat Barcelona 2-1 in the Clasico on October 26.

It all began after Lamine Yamal made blasphemous comments about Real Madrid ahead of the Clasico. The Spaniard accused them of stealing and complaining, which did not sit well with the Los Blancos squad. However, Yamal failed to deliver during the clash, with Real Madrid beating Barcelona 2-1 after their four consecutive Clasico losses last season. After the game, Dani Carvajal and Lamine Yamal were seen involved in an altercation, with both making seemingly offensive hand gestures.

According to El Nacional, the growing tension between Yamal and Carvajal has led to the Spain national team being divided. On one side, players like Fermin Lopez, Pedri, and Nico Williams are reportedly in support of the Barcelona superstar. Meanwhile, Dean Huijsen remains in support of his Real Madrid teammate, Dani Carvajal. The situation has caused concern for coach Luis de la Fuente, who's focused on preparing Spain for the 2026 World Cup.

The report further suggests that Luis de la Fuente is looking to calm the situation down before it worsens in the Spain dressing room. With the World Cup being months away, hostility between two of the most important players in the squad may not sit well with La Roja. It remains to be seen when the situation calms down, as feuds during Clasicos have been common for years.

In the post-match press conference following Barcelona's 2-1 loss in the Clasico, Frenkie de Jong weighed in on Yamal's altercation with Dani Carvajal. The Dutchman sided with his 18-year-old teammate and said (via Sports Illustrated):

"It was all very exaggerated. If you know Lamine and think he shouldn’t make those statements, you call him privately. Besides, it’s not that serious. I didn’t hear Lamine directly saying that Madrid was stealing."

De Jong was referring to Lamine Yamal's comments during a Kings League stream with Ibai Llanos. In the stream, the Spaniard appeared to take a dig at Real Madrid and said:

"Yes, they [Madrid] steal and then complain, that's what they do."

Despite his performance last night, Lamine Yamal has an impressive record against Los Blancos. He either scored or assisted in all of Barcelona's Clasico victories last season, recording three goals and two assists in four outings across competitions.
