With the World Cup being months away, hostility between two of the most important players in the squad may not sit well with La Roja. Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong speaks up about Dani Carvajal and Lamine Yamal's feud during El Clasico

In the post-match press conference following Barcelona's 2-1 loss in the Clasico, Frenkie de Jong weighed in on Yamal's altercation with Dani Carvajal. The Dutchman sided with his 18-year-old teammate and said (via Sports Illustrated):

"It was all very exaggerated. If you know Lamine and think he shouldn’t make those statements, you call him privately. Besides, it’s not that serious. I didn’t hear Lamine directly saying that Madrid was stealing."

De Jong was referring to Lamine Yamal's comments during a Kings League stream with Ibai Llanos. In the stream, the Spaniard appeared to take a dig at Real Madrid and said:

"Yes, they [Madrid] steal and then complain, that's what they do."

Despite his performance last night, Lamine Yamal has an impressive record against Los Blancos. He either scored or assisted in all of Barcelona's Clasico victories last season, recording three goals and two assists in four outings across competitions.
