Former Liverpool forward Roberto Firmino is delighted that Mohamed Salah and Arne Slot are set to hold showdown talks today, December 12. The Brazilian reacted to a post by Fabrizio Romano after the Dutchman's press conference comments.
Speaking to the media ahead of the Brighton & Hove Albion game, Slot said that he was undecided on Salah's future at the club and the winger's chances of making the matchday squad. He said that they were due to hold talks later in the day, and it would be key to his decision. He said (via LiverpoolECHO):
"I will have a conversation with him this morning and the outcome of that conversation will determine how it looks tomorrow. What I need is a conversation with him and the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. There's not much more I can say. I speak to him today and the outcome determines how things will look tomorrow."
Romano relayed the comments on his Instagram account, and Firmino was among those who reacted. The former Reds forward commented with three emojis: a clap, a red heart, and a prayer.
Mohamed Salah and Robert Firmino played 245 matches together at Liverpool, combining for 37 goals and winning the Premier League title once.
The relationship with Liverpool manager is broken, said Mohamed Salah
Mohamed Salah spoke to the meida last week, saying that his relationship with Arne Slot was broken. He accused the manager of throwing him under the bus and said (via Independent):
"I will have a conversation with him this morning and the outcome of that conversation will determine how it looks tomorrow. What I need is a conversation with him and the next time I speak about Mo should be with him and not in here. There's not much more I can say. I speak to him today and the outcome determines how things will look tomorrow."
When asked if he regrets signing the new contract at Liverpool, Salah added:
“Imagine how bad that I have to answer it, honestly. That hurts, even the question hurts. This club, signing for this club, I will never regret it. I thought I'm going to renew here and end my career here, but this is not according to the plan, so I'm not regretting signing for the club for sure.”
Mohamed Salah has been linked with a move to the Saudi Pro League if he leaves Anfield in the winter window.
