Pedri named Bayern Munich star Jamal Musiala as the one player he would like to play for Barcelona if given the opportunity to decide who the Catalan club should sign.

During an interview with xBuyer, Pedri was asked which player he would sign for Barcelona if he had full control, to which he replied:

“A player who blows me away is Musiala. He’s very good.”

One can only imaging how strong Barcelona's talanted midfield would look like with the addition of Musiala. Musiala, who came through the ranks at Bayern, is renowned for his exceptional dribbling, technicality, and goal threat as an attacking midfielder.

Musiala and Pedri have established themselves as two of the world’s best young talents at the moment, with both players serving as linchpins for their respective clubs. The paths have often mirrored each other. When Pedri won the Kopa Trophy in 2021, Musiala finished third in the voting.

However, the possibility that Musiala would leave Bayern for Barcelona at the moment appears very unlikely. While the German midfielder is yet to feature for the Bavarians this season after breaking his fibula during the Club World Cup, he recently signed a five-year contract with the Bundesliga outfit, extending his stay until 2030.

Besides, Barcelona have been financially hamstrung in the transfer market in recent years. With Musiala’s current market value standing at €140 million, any potential pursuit for the player seems nearly impossible.

Barcelona handed Pedri boost as return date revealed

Like Musiala, Pedri is currently on the sidelines and have yet to feature for Barca this month. The Spaniard was given his marching orders during October’s El Clasico, but days after the match, he was confirmed to have injured his hamstring.

Initially, it was reported that he would not return to action until December, but in what will come as music to the ears of the Blaugrana faithful, there is a strong feeling that the 22-year-old will be back ahead of schedule.

According to Diario AS, Pedri is recovering very well, and his return could come much sooner than the timeline set by the doctors. The report added that he could even play a few minutes against Athletic Bilbao in the LaLiga match scheduled for November 22.

If the aforementioned report is anything to go by, it means there are chances for Pedri to be involved in Barca’s next Champions League match against Chelsea, which comes three days after the game against Bilbao.

In 13 matches played so far this season for Barca, Pedri has scored two goals and provided two assists.
