Fans on X (formerly Twitter) have slammed Barcelona star, Marc Casado, after he failed to impress in the side's 3-1 win over Deportivo Alaves in La Liga on Saturday, November 29.
Hansi Flick's side returned to winning ways after suffering a disappointing 3-0 loss to Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League. The Catalan club had to rally from a goal down after an early strike from Pablo Ibanez (1') put the visitors in front.
Teenage sensation Lamine Yamal restored parity for his side in the eighth minute, before Dani Olmo added another in the 26th minute to give Barcelona the lead. Yamal then turned provider for Olmo late in the game (90+3'), as the latter bagged a brace to secure maximum points for Flick's side.
Casado, meanwhile, was handed a start in midfield by the manager and played the entire match. However, fans were unimpressed with his contributions in the encounter. In 90 minutes on the pitch, the 22-year-old managed only 95 touches, lost possession once, attempted only one pass in the final third, and won only five of 11 ground duels contested (via FotMob).
"Casado been trying to bully players only to get flipped on his head all game long lmfao," one fan posted.
"Casado is soooo baddd," another disappointed fan wrote.
"Casado isn’t winning any ball at all. He’s so bad," another chimed in.
"Please sell Casado please," one fan added.
One fan claimed that Marc Bernal, who marked his return from injury in the clash, performed better than Casado, writing:
"There were real life people debating Casado and Bernal. Lmao post ACL Bernal with almost no football in 15 months looks better than Casado."
"Bro has like 10% pass accuracy and 20 dispossessions in the second half," a fan highlighted Casado's below-par performance.
"I can’t with Casado man, seriously," said another.
"Elche level player," another tweeted.
Marc Casado has made nine league appearances this season and an additional four in the UEFA Champions League, contributing one assist.
Two key Barcelona stars return to action in win against Alaves
Barcelona were boosted by the return of Pedri and Raphinha in their 3-1 win over Deportivo Alaves. Raphinha, who had not started a game for La Blaugrana since September due to a hamstring injury, was included in the starting XI after a cameo appearance last week against Athletic Bilbao.
The Brazilian repaid the manager's faith in him by setting up Dani Olmo in the 26th minute. Pedri, meanwhile, who had missed the side's last five matches with a similar injury, came on in the second half (60') to replace Raphinha.
Barcelona's win over Alaves saw them leapfrog rivals Real Madrid, who do not play until Sunday (November 30), to the top of the standings. They've amassed 34 points from 14 matches and will next take on Atletico Madrid at home in the league on Tuesday, December 2.
