Chelsea take on Everton in a Premier League match at Stamford Bridge this Saturday.
Chelsea are currently in 5th place in the table, while Everton are just two places - and one point - below them in 7th.
So can Chelsea get back on track after a dodgy patch, or will the Toffees leapfrog them right before Christmas?
Chelsea vs Everton Head-to-Head and Key Numbers
- Everton have struggled against Chelsea in recent seasons, winning just one of their last six meetings, back in December 2023. Moreover, they have failed to win any of their last 32 visits to Stamford Bridge in all competitions, last beating Chelsea there in 1994 in the early days of the Premier League.
- After defeating Barcelona and securing an impressive 1-1 draw with Arsenal on the last weekend of November, Chelsea's form has dipped badly in recent weeks. They have suffered losses to Leeds and Atalanta in the Champions League, and also drew 0-0 with Bournemouth in a disappointing performance.
- Everton, on the other hand, have seen a real upturn in their form in recent matches. They've now won four of their last five, beating Fulham, Manchester United, Bournemouth and Nottingham Forest to climb up the table rapidly.
- One major improvement Everton have made in recent weeks is in their defence. The Toffees have conceded 17 goals this season, but only five have come in their last six games, four of which were scored by Newcastle.
- Chelsea's defence has been a strong point for them this season too. They've conceded 15 goals so far, with only Arsenal and Crystal Palace conceding fewer. Goalkeeper Robert Sanchez has kept seven clean sheets, with only Arsenal's David Raya keeping more.
Chelsea vs Everton Prediction
This is a difficult game to predict. On one hand, Chelsea's record against Everton is absolutely stellar, particularly at Stamford Bridge, and on paper they're almost certainly the stronger team, even with midfielder Moises Caicedo suspended.
On the other hand, though, Everton are on much better form right now, they're not conceding many goals, and they've won four of their last five, including two tricky away matches.
Overall, then, given Everton have had a little longer to prepare for this match, it does feel like an upset could be on the cards. The Toffees' diabolical run at Stamford Bridge makes it hard to pick them to win, though - so a draw is the prediction.
Prediction: Chelsea 1-1 Everton
