Where Winds Meet is packed with extensive side missions, including one named Veiled Blades. This questline is encountered in Kaifeng City and sees you indulge in a lengthy narrative as you partner up with a child to track down clues and solve puzzles in a secret chamber.

How to complete Veiled Blades side mission in Where Winds Meet
- Location: Kaifeng City

To start this quest, visit the Goldwater Street area (by fast travelling to its Boundary Stone teleport station) after talking to the city's Wayfarer in Where Winds Meet, and eavesdrop on the two individuals sitting and chatting at a nearby table: Cheng Guang and Wu Sheng, to learn about the Canglang Sword. Once that is done, head to Zhao Pu's residence by entering through the gap in the wall as shown below.
Meet Zhao Chengzong
Follow the linear pathway to the left to emerge into a courtyard and meet a young child named Zhao Chengzong. He tells you that his "big brother" is stuck under a pile of rocks he is standing next to, so hit the rocks with a weapon to tear the structure down. Turns out that his big brother is, in fact, a cricket.
To repay the protagonist's kindness, the kid wants to help him track down the Canglang Sword manual. Follow the talkative Zhao Chengzong around the courtyard until you reach a bridge with several footprints across it. Inspect it and then continue following the kid across the bridge. Be sure to inspect objects of interest as they are highlighted during this linear sequence.
This will be followed by a cutscene where the kid's uncle walks into the courtyard. To avoid drawing suspicion, he pushes the protagonist into the pond. From this point onwards, you must follow the duo while being sneaky to avoid being caught - and failure will result in you replaying this stealth section in Where Winds Meet.
Follow Zhao Chengzong while staying hidden
Leap towards the nearby treasure chest to loot the items inside and follow Zhao Chengzong and Uncle Xu while being crouched. There are a few ways to go about doing this, but the best option is to stick to the rooftops since there are guards around the place at ground level.
After a brief cutscene, meet up with Zhao Chengzong and talk to him. The next step is to find a key. Once again, climb to the rooftops and reach the designated building. Drop down and enter through the doorway to reach the room with the key sitting inside a glowing box atop a table. Keep track of patrolling guards to avoid being spotted when heading back to the kid awaiting nearby.
Stay crouched and hidden from sight while Zhao Chengzong distracts the nearby guards and follow him again when they leave. Unlock the door to the main hall and be sure to inspect the bloodstains on the carpet below. Follow the kid to discover a locked chest. The next order of things is to find more clues.
Inspect the wooden cabinet as shown below using Wind Sense to find a Throwing Star clue. Insert the Throwing Star into the lock mechanism located to the right of the cabinet and rotate it to fit the shape to open it. This reveals a secret lever inside.
Explore the hidden chamber
Pull the lever to unveil a secret passage behind the cabinet that leads underground. Follow Zhao Chengzong deeper into the chamber and reach a stone door. It cannot be pushed as is, so pull the lever attached to the stone pillar to the left of the door at the same time as the kid to unlock the door.
There are several points of interest to check out here, but take the stairs behind the table with the story book to head upstairs and reach and inspect the red box in the small room to obtain a Hidden Weapon. Head back downstairs to find another contraption like the one on the cabinet in the main hall. Insert and rotate the Hidden Weapon to find the lever that opens the door nearby.
Head deeper into the chamber
Unlike the previous instance, however, someone has to keep the lever pulled to keep this passage open. Speak to Zhao Chengzong to ask for his help and proceed through the door. With the way back now blocked, the only path is forward. Grab the small chest to the left to get some Jade Echoes and proceed through the hallway to the right.
Pull the highlighted lever of the lantern to light it up, which should open the sliding wall to let Zhao Chengzong in. Now return to the passage's dead end to find another lever puzzle requiring the kid's help to open the next door and progress further.
Solve the Contraption Tower
A new puzzle awaits in this lengthy Where Winds Meet quest. The first order of things is to track down three hairpins to open each of the locks on the Contraption Tower.
Hairpin 1:
To the left of the device will be a gated room. Pull the highlighted lever to unlock the area and loot whatever is inside, including the first hairpin.
Hairpin 2:
Head outside the room and look left to see Zhao Chengzong standing next to a cabinet. This is right next to this gated room. Interact with the red box to get the next hairpin.
Hairpin 3
The final hairpin can be found in another locked room. Open the highlighted cabinet to have Zhao Chengzong crawl through and open the gate and head inside to grab the hairpin off the dummy.
Insert all hairpins
Add each hairpin one by one into the machinery by engaging with the same rotating puzzle. This will open the door ahead to the secret room. Examine the secret letter on the table and then use Wind Sense to take note of interactable objects of interest in the surroundings.
Interact with the chest to get the Sword Manual and inspect the night attire to obtain the Riptide Reflex Inner Ways manual. Also check the box on the table next to this night attire to get another hairpin. Use it on the locked shelf cabinet to find a stack of letters. With that done, the cabinet will move to reveal a passage out.
Follow it to exit the chamber. A brief cutscene will follow where the protagonist and Zhao Chengzong get caught. After watching it, follow the kid upstairs to talk to Wei Zhixi. This wraps up the Veiled Blades side quest in Where Winds Meet.
