Where Winds Meet walkthrough: How to complete Volume IV: Blind to the World

Where Winds Meet has some amazing side quests, and one of them is Blind to the World, where you help Doctor Tian solve a few puzzles for an important job. He’s already been paid for it, so he needs to get it wrapped up. Who better than you, after all? There is no combat in this mission, though you will learn how to swim underwater and trust more senses than just your eyesight.

This is more of a puzzle quest, similar to Echoes of Old Battles, and if you want to unlock the powerful Blinding Mist Mystic Art, you’ll need to complete it. However, this is something you can complete in co-op if you need further help.

Full walkthrough for Where Winds Meet’s Volume IV: Blind to the World side quest

You’ll find Where Winds Meet’s Volume IV: Blind to the World side quest in Qinghe’s Moonveil Mountain area. If you’ve already got the Crimson Cliff teleport, that’s the easiest way there. Otherwise, you’ll need to pick one of the three fast travel points that surround this quest. Personally, I used Brewery Backyard, but there’s no wrong one to pick.

Steps to complete Blind to the World

Speak with Doctor Tian, dive into the lake to uncover its secrets
Explain recent events to Doctor Tian, follow Doctor Tian and dive into the lake, study the strange Blind Girl statue, and enter the gate with Doctor Tian
Explore ahead alone, dive into the waterway, swim out of the waterway, ask Doctor Tian for updates
Find a way to activate the stone gate’s contraption, push the stone door

1) Speak with Doctor Tian, dive into the lake to uncover its secrets

After you speak with Doctor Tian, he’ll give you a letter to read. Somehow, you need to figure out how to get underneath this lake without drowning. Jump down into the lake proper and follow the command prompt to dive under the water.

When underwater, activate Wind Sense. It will slow your breathing and give you more time to navigate. You definitely don’t want to drown; you’ll take damage very quickly.

There are three levers you need to pull down here, and that will drain the lake. You can get the treasures beforehand, like I did, but I imagine they will be there after the lake drains as well.

Don’t be afraid to swim to the top to catch your breath if necessary. Either way, when you’re done, drop down to where the statue is, and you can proceed with Where Winds Meet’s Blind to the World.

2) Explain recent events to Doctor Tian, follow Doctor Tian and dive into the lake, study the strange Blind Girl statue, enter the gate with Doctor Tian

You’ll find yourself back on the cliff with Doctor Tian, where he’ll make a joke, and you two can go down and dive into the empty lakebed. Don’t stand in the gross, swamp-like ground because it slows you down. Instead, jump over it with a double/triple jump and air dash.

When you get to Doctor Tian on the platform, you’ll need to study the strange Blind Girl statue. Stand on the glowing platform. Now, you’ll need to solve a brief puzzle.

From the puzzle starting point (glowing platform), follow the now-glowing stones clockwise, starting from the second tile to the left and coming back around clockwise. You can see it in the image above.

With that, the cave will open, and you can enter the gate with Doctor Tian. This is the first of a few puzzles, but we’re here to get you through all of them nice and easy.

3) Explore ahead alone, dive into the waterway, swim out of the waterway, ask Doctor Tian for updates

The most important things you need here are Fire Arrows, but the corpse next to where you enter ought to have some. You’ll see lots of strips of fabric hanging over the path as you explore ahead alone in Where Winds Meet’s Blind to the World quest. These are a trap, and they will deal fire damage if you touch them.

Instead, go through slowly and shoot each with fire arrows to make them disappear. At the end of the path, there’s a treasure chest to grab and a huge gap. You should investigate the body on the bridge to get a Letter.

Then, you need to find a way to the other side. There’s something you’ll probably notice, too. If you touch a blue flower, the screen gets dark, but you’ll start to see brief circles of light ahead of you. These light up the path.

You’re basically using your other senses to navigate. Instead of trying to go across the bridge, go right (left if you’re on the bridge), touch one of the flowers, and follow the glowing circles as they lead you down a path leading to water. If you need a timestamp, it’s at 9:24 in the video above.

You’ll find yourself in the water, so swim to the end of the path and dive under the waterway. Make sure to activate Wind Sense again to slow your breathing. There are several treasure boxes to pop open while you’re underwater, but stick to the path as best you can. You’ll see a white current in the water that you can follow to guide you to where you need to go.

If you get lost, just swim against a flower, and the screen will go dark, and you’ll see the white current path again. When you reach the end of the path, swim up to avoid drowning.

Swim out of the waterway, and the next step of Where Winds Meet’s Blind to the World will show you that somehow, Doctor Tian has already gotten here ahead of you.

Ask Doctor Tian for updates by speaking to him, and he’ll reveal that the bodies here all died three years ago, from the Lunar Goddess. However, we’ve got a puzzle to solve if we want to move on.

4) Find a way to activate the stone gate’s contraption, push the stone door

You can (and should) investigate all of the bodies in this area, but the solution is pretty easy if you’ve been paying attention to the theme of the quest.

To solve the stone gate contraption puzzle in Where Winds Meet’s Blind to the World, simply go up to the cliff in this area.

Up on the cliff, walk over a blue flower and activate the stone pillar at the edge of the cliff. This will make four buttons glow above the bells, which are also above you. Using Fire Arrows, ping these bells in the correct order. If you use a flower first before interacting with the pillar, you’ll get a different combination than if you just interact with the pillar. The quest told you not to trust your eyes.

Use the image above to see the puzzle solution for this part of Blind to the World in Where Winds Meet. We’ve marked the bells from left to right as 1 through 4. You want to shoot Buttons 3, 4, 1, 2 in that order to solve this puzzle. After that, just head down and push the door open to proceed.

5) Venture deep beyond the gate with Doctor Tian, retrieve the Ice Jade Box containing her eyes, give the Eye Box to Doctor Tian, and find what the Lunar Goddess really wants

Beyond the door, you’ll see a cliff that has the slumped body of the Lunar Goddess on it. After a cutscene, retrieve the Ice Jade Box containing her eyes and also investigate the desk.

Give the Eye Box to Doctor Tian, and you’ll find this isn’t really what the Lunar Goddess was looking for. There’s but one more puzzle to solve.

You need to find what the Lunar Goddess really wants. If you interact with her, you’ll see the option Settle an old vow, but without the right item, this won’t do anything. There’s a path you can take that leads you downwards, towards more water, and with several of the Lunar Goddess’s personal belongings.

There are a few easy-to-find treasure chests on the way down if you wish to grab them. If you found three letters from the various bodies and chests along the way, you can put together a book for the Lunar Goddess, but that’s not necessary.

Make sure to grab the huge glowing chest near the Lunar Goddess’ books for some extra rewards during this Where Winds Meet side quest.

Down in this area, you will see two circled items (image above). You can pick up both, but you only need one. You can grab the knife if you want, but the item to wrap this quest’s final puzzle up is that blue flower. Grab it, and return to the Lunar Goddess.

Once the cutscene ends, Blind to the World technically completes in Where Winds Meet, but you’ll need to actually follow the path out for your rewards. Follow the quest marker to find the exit, and once you’re outside, you’ll unlock Blinding Mist, alongside the other quest rewards.
