Where Winds Meet walkthrough: How to complete More Than Meets The Eye Encounter quest

In Where Winds Meet, interacting with NPCs is crucial to trigger some unique Encounters like the More Than Meets The Eye. This sub-quest is initiated when you talk to Wu Bai at the General’s Shrine within the Verdant Wilds area. The NPC can be found sitting in the courtyard by the bush, overlooking the sparring arena.

Before initiating the conversation, you must finish the Shrine in the Wild campaign quest. Wu Bai may not be ready to respond unless you interact with some of the locals. Once the NPC talks, you can gear up for a friendly spar and begin the More Than Meets The Eye quest in Where Winds Meet.

The More Than Meets The Eye Encounter quest in Where Winds Meet thoroughly tests your combat skills. Upon talking to Wu Bai, you will be directed to challenge four different NPCs that are quite comfortable with their fighting techniques. Bear in mind that it will be a friendly spar where you can only use wooden weapons.

Points will be allocated when you exhaust your opponent’s Qi. The first to score five points will be declared the winner. Here are the opponents you need to challenge to complete the More Than Meets The Eye Encounter:

Du Qiaoxian
Yuan Jin’gang
Gongsun Deng
Elder Gongsun

In our experience, Gongsun Deng and Elder Gongsun were the trickiest to fight against. Unfortunately, you wouldn’t have access to any martial arts, so you have to rely on your instinct and observation to win these challenges. Try to dodge the attacks preceded by a golden flash, while you can parry the ones with a red glow.

Get accustomed to your opponent’s moveset and attack them when you can to break their Qi. There’s no particular order to challenge the NPCs, so choose whichever challenger you want. Win or lose, the outcome of the duel will not influence the quest progression.

However, you do have to talk to Wu Bai after sparring with all the opponents to complete the More Than Meets The Eye Encounter quest.
