Talk to the grandfather to learn about his concerns. Upon completing the interaction, a quest marker will appear in the Trade Hall of the Harvestfall Village.
Take Wang Lan to the Trade Hall and the Lumber Camp

You must escort Wang Lan to Du the Broker by the commission board near Trade Hall. Talk to the NPC to learn about the strict qualification for the job. No ordinary person will be able to adhere to the requirement, nor can Wang Lan.
Therefore, you have no other option but to check in on the nearby Lumber Camp. It is located on the opposite side of the village. Meet with Wang Lan at the next market and talk to Carpenter Mao.
In exchange for accepting a rookie, the NPC will ask for some refreshments. Head to the nearby tea stall and purchase some pastry from Zhang in exchange for some Zhou Coins in Where Winds Meet.
Return next day

Once you have all the refreshments, the Lucky Break Encounter quest will prompt you to visit Carpenter Mao the next day. Instead of waiting around, use the time skip feature from the menu to enter Yin hour. Talk to Carpenter Mao to find out how Wang Lan has sabotaged his business.
It seems the grandson seeks a perfect job for which he lacks the necessary qualification, but he will be excited by the idea of working as a prison guard.
Find Wang Lan at the Riverside Station

Once you reach the Riverside Station, you will find Wang Lan at the entrance working as a guard. After checking in on the grandson, head to the next quest market and talk to the Wang Clan Patriarch. He would like to see how his grandson is handling the new job.
Unfortunately by the time you arrive at the station, Wang Lan has disappeared. Talk to Yamen Runner or the nearby guards to learn that Wang Lan has been detained. Interacting with the Patriarch’s grandson will end the Lucky Break Encounter quest in Where Winds Meet.
