Where Winds Meet’s Beauty and Blade Encounter requires you to first prove your worth in Qinghe, before tackling it. As far as we know, it will require at least one fort in particular, and at least have access to Heaven’s Pier. However, you do pick up a solid amount of Exploration Points, Xp, Coins, and a Cosmetic for taking the time to do this encounter. It will require a bit of fighting, so do be prepared for that.
Beauty and Blade is one of the many charming, interesting Encounters you’ll pick up in this region of Where Winds Meet, and while it’s more straightforward than say, Little Master’s Legacy, it’s still very much worth doing. Here’s everything you need to know.
Steps to complete Beauty and Blade in Where Winds Meet

1) Unlock Encounter in Heaven’s Pier, Join the Crowd, Accept Zhao Family’s Bounty

If you want to tackle the Beauty and Blade Encounter in Where Winds Meet, head to the spot in the above image, and track the quest. Then, walk to the quest marker and Join the Crowd. You’ll see a group of people, all willing to take on the great challenge posed by the Zhao Family, so speak to them and accept the Bounty.
You’re going to have to complete a series of challenges to prove your worth to the Zhao family, and ultimately, to Lady Zhao herself. You’re going to need to have three important attributes: Bravery (Combat), Skill (Music playing), and Patience. Below are the three trials, and what you need to do to complete them.
2) Head to the first trial, Challenge the Bear and claim its fur, give the fur to the servant

Just head to the quest marker on the map in Moonveil Mountain, and speak to the servant when you arrive. They’re going to make you fight a bear nearby, and claim its fur “before the third incense burns out”. I’m not entirely sure what they meant by that, because I defeated the bear incredibly quickly.
Having Toad Leap and Vernal Umbrella allowed me to stun him (in addition to Meridian Touch), as well as deal lots of damage in a hurry. Just smash through this bear, and once you’ve defeated it, you’ll automatically get the fur. Rush back over to the servant, hear his speech, and head on to the second trial. This fight won’t be anything compared to what you’ve already done.
3) Head to the second trial, play a tune using the servant’s Guqin

When you’re ready, head to the Crimson Cliffs Boundary Stone, and perform the second trial for Where Winds Meet’s Beauty and Blade. When you arrive, you’ll need to play the Guqin to a satisfactory level. This is not a very hard song to play, but of course, you can also cheese your way through it, by just hitting all the buttons at the same time.
This is much easier on a controller, in my experience. After you’ve played the song, and succeeded, you’ll be able to move on to the third and final trial. Now, you need to return to Heaven’s Pier and meet with another servant.
4) Head to the third trial, Chat with the page boy at the winery, Meditate on the eastern rooftop of Heaven’s Pier, Return and ask the page boy, Meditate on the western rooftop of Heaven’s pier, Return and ask the page boy again

When you arrive at the servant for the third trial in Where Winds Meet’s Beauty and Blade quest, you’ll be given a secret code to use when you chat with the page boy at the winery. You need to give the response “Though far, not far; though empty, not empty”. You’ll be tasked with sitting on a nearby roof, and meditating. Do this, and nothing will happen. He’ll apologize and ask you to meditate on the western roof instead, when you return to him.
Nothing will happen after you meditate on the western rooftop, so return to the page boy and listen in on his conversation. It sounds like they were just playing a prank on you, but after speaking with them, you’ll get to the final part of Beauty and Blade in Where Winds Meet.
We won’t spoil the cutscenes, but you’ll wind up going back to the Bloomveil Monastery, as a double of Lady Zhao. After it all wraps up, you’ll receive the following rewards for this Where Winds Meet Encounter:
- Coins x15,000
- Character XP x15,000
- Jade Fish x150
- Enlightenment Points x100
- Qinghe Exploration Points x50
- Echo Jade x50
- Alms Pilgrim Cosmetic Outfit
