Where Winds Meet uses a Vitality system to activate your various weapon skills throughout the game. No matter which weapon you use, odds are, you will need some Vitality to trigger their abilities. The frustrating thing is that there’s really only one way to increase Vitality, and it takes a pretty long time and intense grinding. In this game's current version, there are two NPCs that can help you increase the stat.
Make sure you take the time to collect the various Oddities if you plan on increasing your Vitality in Where Winds Meet because you can't increase this all-important combat stat without them.
Method to increase your Vitality in Where Winds Meet
In order to increase your Vitality in Where Winds Meet, you’re going to need to farm the various Oddities spread throughout the game and trade them in to the NPCs in Qinghe and Kaifeng. You’ll unlock these non-playable characters pretty early on, thankfully. You’ll find Qi Sheng in Qinghe just to the northeast of the Wayfarer, as shown on the map below.

Conversely, you can unlock the Kaifeng Oddities vendor by completing a short quest right next to the Wayfarer, also shown on the map above. After you complete that quest, he’ll move to another part of the zone, but you’ll be able to see the vendor on your map quite easily. The downside is that there are only a few nodes on each of the Oddities maps that will give you more Vitality in Where Winds Meet.
I recommend farming the items below anytime you come across them in-game so you can turn them in to Oddities vendors and pick up more stats, aside from Vitality. The game boasts a skill tree system, so you can’t just jump ahead.
Each of the items mentioned below has its own method of acquisition as well, which is to solving a mini-puzzle. They’re often very easy to obtain, though.
Enchanting Lotus can feel tricky to farm for first time because they inflict a status ailment if you don’t get them in the correct manner. Below are all Oddities and how to pick them up:

Qinghe Oddities
- Dagger General: Mighty Slam on the pile of rocks and loot.
- Enchanting Lotus: Shoot the purple swarms of butterflies first then loot.
- Ironwing Mantis: Interact with it, follow it, then loot.
- Redmist Beetle: Jump through the cluster of bugs over a red glowing mushroom.
- Whisper Hive: Shoot a fire arrow at a beehive in a tree and jump up to loot.
Kaifeng Oddities
- Heartsoothe Twig: When you see a gold, glittering bird, shoot it with an arrow and loot the item it drops.
- Moonbeam Toad: Chase them down and loot them, by following the gold trail they leave behind.
- Midnight Nibbler: Might Slam (or attack it with your weapon) down onto piles of boxes and loot.
- Thunder Fluff: Chase the purple fluff and interact with it before it lands.
- Swallow’s Rest: When you see a swallow, run up to it and it will fly away, leaving behind a nest to loot.
Collecting these will take a great deal of time, but eventually, you’ll have more than enough Vitality in Where Winds Meet to use whatever attacks you want. Just keep in mind that you cannot spam your skills, and if you want to recharge Vitality, you need to hit enemies or interact with a fast-travel stone.
