Several sections of the shop will offer you free cosmetics in exchange for currencies you can earn in-game. Make sure to explore the offer tab to see what you can purchase for free. Buying a set will also guarantee the hairstyle from the appearance.

Head to your room in the Blissful Retreat as marked in the above image. You will need to climb a set of stairs past Aunt Han's hut to reach your own. Here you will find a mirror with which you can interact. Do so to unlock new hairstyles in Where Winds Meet.

You can comb your hair only two times each day, and you will need for the Where Winds Meet Daily reset to gain more attempts.

Quests

Certain quests will also give you free appearances. For example, early on in the game, you can unlock the First Step outfit set by participating in the competition in General's Shrine during the prologue.
